“Qendra Streha” is looking for an experienced expert to prepare and deliver a series of workshops aimed at enhancing the capacity of grassroots professionals in Shkoder, Vlora, and Durres. The workshops will focus on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to provide affirmative services to the LGBTI+ community. Also this position requires to conduct outreach activities with LGBTI+ individuals, introduce them to the services offered by Streha Center, and assess their needs to improve the effectiveness of our support programs.

“Qendra Streha” Background
Streha Center provides services to the LGBTIQ+ community in Albania and the region in cases of emergencies, including shelter and other psycho-social services for the empowerment of LGBTI+ individuals. The aim of Streha is to empower and assist LGBTIQ+ individuals, mainly youth, through its multidisciplinary and residential services, capacity-building of service providers, public awareness, and advocacy, in order to overcome barriers and difficulties faced by the LGBTI+ community in families and society. The primary focus of Streha is the empowerment and reintegration into society of at-risk youth within the LGBTI+ community (aged 18 to 29). The service is provided in the capital city of Albania, Tirana. However, it is not limited to the country and often offers services to Albanian’s youth from neighboring countries, such as Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
Project Background
The overall objective of this project is to improve LGBTI+ people’s situation in Albania through empowering them and changing negative stereotypes associated with the LGBTI+ community.
This project aims to improve the situation of LGBTI+ people through the interaction of three key pillars:
(1) empowering key grassroots professionals in rural areas through Workshops in support of providing services to LGBTI+ people;
(2) empowering LGBTI+ youth in Shkodër, Durrës, and Vlora through connecting and integrating them in local communities and services, and increasing their information about their rights.
(3) changing the negative stereotypes associated with the LGBTI+ community in Albanian society through social media campaigns. The chosen expert will be responsible for both designing the module and conducting training sessions for caseworkers in residential services.
Responsibilities of the Expert
- Develop comprehensive training materials tailored to the needs of professionals working with the LGBTI+ community.
- Facilitate five workshops in the cities of Shkodër, Vlora, and Durrës.
- Engage with participants from various sectors to foster cross-sector collaboration and understanding.
- Provide detailed reports on the progress and outcomes of each workshop, including feedback from participants and recommendations for further improvement.
- Conduct meetings and outreach activities with LGBTI+ individuals and community groups.
- Introduce Streha Center and its services, providing clear and comprehensive information.
- Build and maintain relationships with LGBTI+ community leaders and organizations.
Expected Outcomes:
- Enhanced Skills: Grassroots professionals in Shkoder, Vlora, and Durrës will improve their ability to deliver affirmative services to the LGBTI+ community.
- Increased Collaboration: The workshops will promote greater collaboration and awareness among professionals from different sectors, contributing to more inclusive and supportive environments for LGBTI+ individuals.
- Assess the needs and challenges faced by LGBTI+ individuals through direct interactions and surveys.
- Gather and analyze data on service utilization, gaps, and emerging needs.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in conducting workshops and training sessions, particularly in the field of LGBTI+ rights and inclusion.
- Strong knowledge of issues related to LGBTI+ communities, mental health, and education.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse audiences and adapt training materials to meet the specific needs of participants.
- Fluency in Albanian and English is preferred.
